Jones wins a Telly

Telly Cool Blue is proud to announce that one of its team Andrew Jones has recently been awarded a bronze Telly Award for his documentary about the historic Colony Theatre in Marietta, Ohio. The film is a 45-minute look at the history of the theatre, starting in 1919, through the current efforts to renovate and reopen it.

"For me, the film was truly a labor of love," says Andrew Jones, who wrote, filmed and edited the documentary. "I’ve been fascinated by the Colony since I was a little boy, seeing films like E.T. and The Empire Strikes Back in its auditorium. I jump at any chance I get to contribute back to the effort that will someday get the theatre opened up again."

Cool Blue Video Capabilities

Web video has come a long way from its beginnings. When it first started, there were three options: Quicktime, Real Media, or Windows Media. They all had a common flaw; developers had limited control over content.

When Macromedia introduced the new Flash standard, they added the ability to stream video. Developers gained control over many aspects of the video content. Developers can “skin” their players to match the overall site design, and know that cross-platform the video will be consistent. This started the web-video revolution, led by two popular sites, YouTube and MySpace, both of which chose to use Flash video.

Flash video has many benefits, including:

  • Better developer control of the user experience
  • Cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility
  • More efficient streaming of video content
  • Better compression ratio which reduces file size

News sites like CNN, Fox News, the NY Times, and the Washington Post have all embraced the idea of using Flash video. Flash video has also proven highly effective. Fox used Flash video to promote the 18th season of the Simpsons. 1.4 million streams occurred and 50% of the streams lasted the entire duration of the video. Those are numbers that are truly astounding and show results.

Cool Blue can create a custom video player that is consistent with your site design and showcases your company’s services and/or products. Whether this is a personal message from the CEO or a simple clip of a product in action, Cool Blue can integrate the content and enhance the user interaction and experience, leading your company into the next phase of web content interaction.
